What To Expect During The Delivery?

What To Expect During The Delivery

Placing an order should feel simple, predictable, and stress-free. If it’s your first time using Abboda, you might wonder what happens after you click “Place Order,” how delivery updates work, and what you should do while you wait.

This guide walks you through what to expect during the delivery process—from order confirmation to drop-off—so you always know what’s happening and what to do if anything changes.

Step 1: After you place your order

Once your order is submitted, Abboda sends it to the store for confirmation and preparation. During this stage, a few things happen behind the scenes:

  • the store receives the order details
  • the store confirms availability and begins packing or preparing items
  • your order status updates in Abboda

What you should do:

  • double-check your delivery address and instructions
  • keep your phone nearby in case the store or driver needs clarification

If you entered an apartment number, gate code, or special delivery notes, this is where it matters most.

Step 2: Order preparation

Preparation time depends on what you ordered and how busy the store is.

For example:

  • a small snack order may be packed quickly
  • a larger order may take longer
  • specialty items may require extra handling

During preparation, your order status may show something like:

  • Preparing
  • Order confirmed
  • Packing your order

If the store is out of a specific item, the store may:

  • remove the item, or
  • substitute it (if substitutions are allowed)

To avoid surprises, it’s a good idea to add a note when ordering (for example: “If out of stock, refund that item” or “Substitute with similar flavor”).

Step 3: Driver assignment and pickup

After the store prepares your order, a delivery driver is dispatched to pick it up. Depending on how fulfillment is handled, you may see:

  • the delivery is assigned to a driver
  • the driver is heading to the store
  • the driver arrives and picks up your order

What you should do:

  • stay available by phone
  • keep an eye on your order status if you’re on a tight schedule

The driver may call if:

  • the store needs clarification
  • the address is hard to find
  • access instructions are missing (gate code, apartment entry, etc.)

Step 4: Delivery is on the way

Once your order is picked up, you’ll typically see status updates like:

  • Picked up
  • On the way
  • Arriving soon

Delivery time can vary based on:

  • distance from the store
  • traffic and time of day
  • store prep time
  • driver availability

Even if you live close by, total time includes both preparation and travel. That’s why a delivery can take 45–75 minutes even if the drive is only 10 minutes.

Step 5: Drop-off and handoff

When the driver arrives, the drop-off depends on your instructions:

If you chose “Leave at door”

  • the driver will leave the order at your door (or a safe spot) when allowed
  • you should retrieve it quickly to avoid temperature changes or theft

If you chose “Meet at door”

  • be ready to answer the door promptly
  • delays can occur if the driver can’t reach you

If signature or ID is required

Some orders require extra confirmation:

  • signature confirmation may be required for higher-value orders or certain store policies
  • ID verification may be required for age-restricted items where legally applicable

If ID is required:

  • have your valid ID ready
  • the driver cannot complete the handoff without it

What you should have ready (to avoid delays)

To make delivery smooth, always ensure:

  • accurate address (including apartment/unit)
  • gate code or access instructions (if needed)
  • a working phone number
  • availability during the delivery window
  • lights on / visible house number at night

Small details prevent most delivery problems.

Normal things that can happen (and aren’t a problem)

Sometimes customers worry when they see small changes. These are normal:

  • slight ETA changes during peak hours
  • a short pause while the driver picks up the order
  • longer prep time if the store is busy
  • a call/text to confirm access instructions

Most of the time, it’s simply real-world logistics in motion.

If something feels wrong

If you experience any of the following, it’s time to contact Abboda Support:

  • the order is marked “Delivered” but you didn’t receive it
  • the driver cannot reach you but your phone is working
  • the order hasn’t moved for an unusually long time
  • you received the wrong items or damaged items

When contacting support, share:

  • your order number
  • what happened
  • photos (if there’s damage)

The faster you report an issue, the faster it can be resolved.

The bottom line

During delivery, you can expect a simple flow:

  1. store confirms and prepares
  2. driver is assigned and picks up
  3. delivery moves toward you
  4. drop-off happens based on your instructions

Abboda is designed to keep you informed and make delivery predictable. If anything changes or something doesn’t feel right, support is available to help.

As Abboda continues to improve and grow, you’ll see even more visibility and smoother updates—but the goal stays the same: reliable delivery, clear communication, and a better local experience.
